Fearless Body 45: Taking the weekend off (here's why)
I had to take a break because I was headed for illness if I didn't do something fast.
See, I've been explaining that this program has been kicking my butt. But instead of recovering, I was starting to feel ill. I realized my body was actually detoxing from the exercises.
This is really a GREAT benefit to the program that I wasn't expecting; however, my immune system just wasn't up for the task. So I'm taking a couple days off to take lots of vitamins, rest, drink plenty of water and encourage my body to flush out the toxins without making me get sick.
In the meantime, I did a little research that I think can help anyone doing an exercise program like this. So listen up...

How Exercise Helps With DetoxCardiovascular exercises help by increasing your body temperature over a sustained period, thus making you sweat out toxins. Also, they help your heart stay healthy. Core muscle exercises help massage and stimulate your internal organs. Most forms of exercise increase your breathing, thus providing a form of oxygen therapy. The body is engineered to heal itself to get rid of toxins and to keep the body running as efficiently as possible. With exercise you clean all of your internal organs at the same time.
Exercise accelerates the detoxification process. As you exercise, the blood circulates throughout the body, bringing nutrients to all the organs and muscles. Exercise also helps lymph fluids circulate the body, which removes toxins and other harmful materials.

Tips To Detox Without Wiping Out
Tips To Detox Without Wiping Out
- Eat plenty of fiber, including brown rice and organically-grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Beets, radishes, artichokes, cabbage, broccoli, spirulina, chlorella, and seaweed are excellent detoxifying foods.
- Take vitamin C, which helps the body produce glutathione, a liver compound that drives away toxins.
- Drink at least 2 quarts of water daily.
- Breathe deeply to allow oxygen to circulate more completely through your system.
- Transform stress by emphasizing positive emotions. It's a good idea to detox stressful life situations along with detoxifying your body.

Don't fret, friends...I'll be back on the program again first thing on Monday. See you then!
Caveat: Never do any kind of detox or exercise program without first talking to your doctor.

The "Fearless Body 45" Experiment (yikes!)
I *used* to be a surfer. And I used to be skinny and tone. (It wasn't that long ago.)
That was four years ago before I got prego with our 3rd child. Before that, I was 130lbs and just starting to fit into a size 4. I looked great! My husband's a surfer and he goes out several times a week. He's pretty much given up on me ever getting back in the water. See, I still don't fit into my wetsuit. I actually don't fit into most of my pre-prego clothes, and it's really frustrating. I'm not comfortable in my own body because it's just not what I'm used to.
For weeks, I've been debating whether or not to join a gym or just do yoga at home. I'm a yoga instructor so I teach yoga classes once a week. But that's not enough. So, instead of spending $54 a month on a gym membership, I got this new exercise program: Fearless Body 45 (you can check out the video there) for a flat $77, and I have it forever. I thought it was a pretty good deal and fitting for my "Fearless adventure" too! But we'll see how I feel about it a week from now :)
In an effort to be fearless and authentic, I'm going to "let it all hang out" as they say. So here goes: I weigh 148lbs. I'm a size 8/10. My energy level SUCKS (mostly because our 3-year-old still crawls into bed with us every night around 3am). And I'm sick and tired of not having my body back. Oh! And I'd love to be able to surf with my husband again.
No. More. Excuses.
Here's what I looked like last night when I asked my husband to take an honest "before" pic of me:

I could have taken a more flattering picture, but that wouldn't be very authentic now, would it? I mean, the WHOLE point in being fearless is that I'm trying to be honest, to express myself the way I really am and just BE me.
So, each day I do the program workout, I'll post something here to tell you how it went. Then on day 22 (halfway point), I'll post another picture. Then on day 45, I'll post my after pic.
Do you have a similar journey with your body? Want to be fearless with me? I'd be happy to have some compadres on this journey!
